Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a Greek-American author, syndicated writer of columns and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, philanthropist and television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at age 16. In Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. Then she became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years following, she launched an online platform for voice which offered critiques of politics. It was possible for her to recruit many prominent contributors to share their thoughts regarding politics and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to contest for a non-partisan position for the California recall vote to succeed the then governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential women in media gaining 12th position on their listing and the following year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her the president of their media company, which also included the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was a management consultant and journalist. While she was close to her father, her connection to her mom was the defining factor in the remainder of her life. At an early age, she demonstrated leadership skills that remain highly respected. at the age of 16 she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. In the years following her degree, she was a columnist-critic and a host on TV. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
